Local Partnerships

In a number of ways, Calvary embraces the challenges of ministry in a rural community. One of those ways is through partnerships with organizations both in Flamborough and in the more urban parts of Hamilton. Here are a few of the partnerships we are engaged with:

Flamborough Food Bank:

Every year, Calvary partners with Calvin Christian Reformed Church to deliver flyers to a large area of Flamborough. Two weeks later, the churches come together and revisit those homes to collect food for the Flamborough Food Bank. Often the community generously donates over 10,000 lbs of food.

City Kidz:

Whenever possible, Calvary partners with City Kidz to bus some of the kids from downtown Hamilton up to Calvary in July for our Kidz Connect program.

Street Beats:

Members of Calvary partner with Street Beats Outreach at the intersection of Ferguson and King Street in Hamilton each week to build community with those who might need a meal, a listening ear, and someone who cares.

Flamborough Connects:

This community partner uses space at Calvary for some of their community programming like Wheel of Fitness and other events.

Community Opportunity Scan:

To discern where God is at work, to partner for the good of the community and to address the challenges of ministry in our rural community, Calvary completed a Community Opportunity Scan (COS). Resourced by Diaconal Ministries Canada, the COS is a process of discovery about and with the community: to listen to our community, to affirm the unique gifts and assets in the community and church, and to address the needs in the community through new and existing partnerships.
